Just dittoing the previous comments to let you know this is valued as well as the political analysis! Really appreciate your comment on the Ferrante novels - I gave up on My Brilliant Friend so it's good to know it's worthwhile persevering.
The Lange memoir is very self serving but interesting (I guess they all are.) Jane Clifton’s Political Animals is lots of fun. The biography of Savage by Barry Gustafson deserves the hype.

Thanks for this. Really useful and informative. And also nice to see that journalists are reading widely as well as being widely read.
Good list, I've been wondering whether to pick up the Findlayson book. Any other recommendations for NZ politics books?
Thanks!

Thanks Henry, I love your work. My queue of books to read is growing faster than I’m reading, and is now larger still!
I've just started My Brilliant Friend and was wavering. Good to know it's worth persevering.
